Who is Jorge Vergara?

Hi, I'm Jorge 👋🏽

I'm a Full Stack JavaScript developer who builds mobile apps. At my day job I work with React Native, Next.js, and NestJS; on my own time I build and ship my own apps, Loonie Logs, RoundForge, Plant Care, and a few more in various stages. Small, focused apps, built end to end and live in the app stores.

I've been building software professionally for 15 years, for both small teams and Fortune 500 companies, including three years at Cisco, with most of my work in the logistics space: cargo and warehouse operations, where the software runs the business. Since 2019 I've worked on and off with CargoMatrix as a contractor and consultant, where I lead development on their freight and warehousing platform. It's where I learned to care about efficiency and scalability under real load. You can see some of that work on the case studies page.

Aside from coding, I love sharing what I've learned. These days I write about how those apps get built: shipping React Native and Expo into native territory (Apple Watch apps, Live Activities, HealthKit), how AI coding tools fit into a one-person workflow, and the unglamorous path from "works on my phone" to "live in the stores."
